Welcome to Esther Company!
I am excited about the launching of this ministry and about what God is going to do in the lives of many women.
The birthing of Esther Company has been many years in the making. It started as a seed within my spirit over two decades ago. I had no idea, at the time, what this would entail or what it would look like. It’s very exciting when God speaks something significant to you or you receive a powerful word. However, from the seed to the promise is a long journey, filled with many trials. The process is not something we are often prepared for. I know I wasn’t, nor could I ever have imagined the package it would come in.
Two Significant Visions
Twenty years ago, I spent a month in Sydney, Australia. It was an incredible time where I got to spend endless hours reading the Bible, praying, and just spending time with God. It was there that He first spoke to me about what would eventually become the Esther Company.
One particularly poignant vision was seeing a flat map of the world. There were women standing over each nation, all dressed in their native garments. The women and nations represented were not bound by current borders but also included ancient nations that no longer exist today. I saw myself kneeling at their feet, dusting off their shoes, mending their garments, fixing their hair, and placing jewels and a crown on each of them. God then rolled up the map, put it inside a jewel-filled treasure box and said, “I will re-open this at the right time.” I knew this was significant for what He was calling me to in the future.
Another important vision happened about three years ago, during an intentional healing journey. God showed me what looked like a huge, dirty cloth that had been balled up and was stuck in my mouth. I could see but was unable to speak. When I asked Holy Spirit what this was, I saw the word “Abuse” written on the balled-up cloth. Following this vision, I knew that God was calling me out of abuse and healing me so that I could bring hope to women who were still locked in prisons of pain.
Esther Company’s Mission
The mission of Esther Company is two-fold:
- Be a voice of clarity, healing, hope, and life for women in abusive relationships.
- Be a resource and place of equipping for the church to recognize, understand and be able to provide tangible support for women in abusive relationships.
Many people have a skewed concept of what abuse is. The commonly held belief is that women will always know they are in abusive relationships. But with psychological abuse, that is often not the case. While physical abuse is obvious, psychological abuse is very hidden and wrapped in much confusion.
Psychological abusers are not simply wounded men who operate out of dysfunction. They are men who appear outwardly as angels of light but in reality, are skilled predators and calculated assassins. This is why gaining insight on the nature of abusive relationships is so important and why we are dedicated to helping women find clarity and healing.
