I see an army of Esthers bravely scaling insurmountable opposition and rising out of the deadly shadow of injustice and abuse. Carrying the heart of the King, the fire of their intimacy causes Him to extend His scepter of favor toward them, shattering the death sentence hanging over their lives like a gallows.
These Esthers each have their own name and divine purpose in the earth. The devil hates them! He uses narcissistic abuse as a tool to destroy their hearts, bodies, souls, minds, and spirits. The gallows of death meant to take them out was not just kill them but to destroy God’s plan and purpose for their lives, destroying their legacy before it ever came to fruition.
We have an epidemic of abuse within the church, and we cannot afford to look away. We cannot be naïve! This is not just a physical battle; this is a spiritual battle. “We wrestle not with flesh and blood.” But I believe the tide is turning. It’s time for an awakening. It’s time for reformation. It’s time for revival!
Revival
What does revival have to do with the topic of narcissistic abuse? The answer is everything! The definition of “revival” is to improve the condition of or to strengthen. That is the exact goal of Esther Company—to help improve the condition of and to strengthen both women who are experiencing abuse and the church. Our vision is to see a world where abuse cannot hide and operate within church walls. We want to see every woman bound by abuse awakened, educated, delivered, healed, and living empowered lives full of freedom and abundant life!
Revival is a catalyst of awakening that propels God’s people to passionately pursue the heartbeat and mandate of heaven, releasing the plans and purposes of God and establishing His throne in the earth. What is the foundation of God’s throne? Righteousness and justice. Unfailing love and truth go before Him.
“Righteousness and justice are the foundation of your throne. Unfailing love and truth walk before you as attendants.”
– Psalm 89:14
When we pray “Your kingdom come on earth as it is in heaven,” we not only establish God’s throne in the earth but we relinquish our preconceived notions about how God chooses to move. We can’t afford to pray for revival and think that God won’t come in ways that could offend our mind. Revival has a cost. Revival is messy. Revival will bring a wrecking ball of justice to man-made systems and toxic structures that have chained God’s bride, destroying everything that has rendered her powerless and blinded her vision. Revival will remove anything standing between God and His Bride.
“For the kingdom of God is not a matter of talk by of power.”
– 1 Corinthians 4:20
Pure and Undefiled Religion
Many spiritual widows and orphans sit in our churches every Sunday. Victims of narcissistic abuse have been emotionally and spiritually abandoned and widowed long before they may ever take legal action to enforce what their abuser has chosen for many years. Will we defend the institution of marriage more than celebrate the liberation of the victims held captive and widowed in their abusive marriages?
Scripture tells us in James 1:27, “Pure and undefiled religion in the sight of God the Father means caring for orphans and widows in their distress and refusing to let the world corrupt you.” God’s eyes are on these women and children. His heart is for them! We cannot afford to look away. Everyone has a limit to their capacity, time, and resources, but I would encourage you to ask God, “What is my part?” We all can’t do everything, but we all can do something.
“Learn to do good; seek justice, correct oppression; bring justice to the fatherless, and plead the widow’s cause.”
– Isaiah 1:17
Revival in Unlikely Places
Nothing can come close to experiencing the glory of God’s weighty presence. Some of my most favorite times are being completely consumed in God’s presence. These are times of laughter and joy, refreshing and peace, and healing, but these are also times of sobering holiness, awe, and fear of the Lord. Though revival is amazing, it’s not just to have goosebumps or feel good. Revival is a catalyst, awakening and igniting God’s plans and purposes in the earth.
I love and respect many of the generals God has used in the past, but my heart is grieved when God is placed in a box and men turn to formulas for revival, making a movement into a mausoleum. I believe God is doing a new thing! Will we embrace this new move of God even if it shakes our own personal kingdoms in order to build His?
“Behold, I am doing a new thing; now it springs forth, do you not perceive it?”
– Isaiah 43:19
Though filling our church altars, praying, and expecting God to come in power is great, we can’t expect God to come how we want, when we want, and where we want. Many revivals of the past have worn out teams, taxed leaders, strained marriages and friendships, and have often imploded simply because the human body was never designed to sustain a move of God that requires the doors of the church to be open 24/7 for weeks or months at a time. Why don’t revivals last? There are many factors that I won’t get into now, but one reason is that healthy boundaries are needed even in revival.
God is always in our midst and is faithful to come when we pray but maybe He doesn’t just want to meet us like the revivals of the past, at a weekly meeting or prayer gathering. Maybe He wants us to go where He is—close to the brokenhearted.
“The Lord is close to the brokenhearted; he rescues those whose spirits are crushed.” (Psalm 34:18, emphasis added). This Scripture is often quoted to encourage those who are hurting. But I would humbly submit to you that God just might be telling us where we can easily find Him: in a place we didn’t expect, the messy pit of a victim’s prison of pain. I’m convinced that one of the greatest revivals is walking hand-in-hand with the brokenhearted and seeing God bring freedom, healing, and resurrection life. (John 10:10)
“The Spirit of the Lord God is upon me, because the Lord has anointed me to bring good news to the poor; he has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to those who are bound; to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favor, and the day of vengeance of our God.”
– Isaiah 61:1–4
Call Forth the Wailing Women
I see an army of Esthers is rising out of the shadows of torment and abuse. Carrying the heart of the King and ruling with a scepter of purity and power, they over turn death sentences and enact justice in the earth. All of heaven has taken notice and heard their cry as they have captivated the heart of God. These wailing women use their grief as fuel, carrying their promise, and warring until the answers come fully manifest. Their laboring wails are tipping the bowls of intercession, poised to flood the earth with an empowering reformation. (See Revelation 5:8.)
- Wailing women know how to carry a promise and travail in war until it comes to pass!
- Wailing women know how to push and birth the things of God.
- You cannot stifle their intercession or silence them.
- You cannot abort what they are birthing.
- All of heaven backs them and nothing in hell can stop them.
- You may not hear them yet, but the Father does.
You will never meet a woman more fierce than one who has her eyes locked on God. Motivated by love, their voices are rising like a tidal wave and poised to overturn the gallows of injustice and abuse.
“This is what the Lord Almighty says: “Consider now! Call for the wailing women to come;send for the most skillful of them. Let them come quickly and wail over us till our eyes overflow with tears and water streams from our eyelids. The sound of wailing is heard from Zion: ‘How ruined we are! How great is our shame! We must leave our land because our houses are in ruins. Now, you women, hear the word of the Lord; open your ears to the words of his mouth. Teach your daughters how to wail; teach one another a lament.Death has climbed in through our windows and has entered our fortresses; it has removed the children from the streets and the young men from the public squares. Say, “This is what the Lord declares: ‘Dead bodies will lie like dung on the open field, like cut grain behind the reaper, with no one to gather them. This is what the Lord says: “Let not the wise boast of their wisdom or the strong boast of their strength or the rich boast of their riches, but let the one who boasts boast about this: that they have the understanding to know me, that I am the Lord, who exercises kindness, justice and righteousness on earth, for in these I delight,” declares the Lord.”
– Jeremiah 9:17–25
Esthers Arise!
The tide is turning. It’s time for an awakening! It’s time for reformation! It’s time for revival! Esthers, Arise! I declare, you will reap a harvest of joy for every tear you have sown! You are a royal diadem in the hand of the King.
“The Lord will hold you in his hand for all to see—a splendid crown in the hand of God. Never again will you be called ‘The Forsaken City’ or ‘The Desolate Land.’ Your new name will be ‘The City of God’s Delight’ and ‘The Bride of God,’ for the Lord delights in you and will claim you as his bride”
– Isaiah 62:3–4
